About Spine Motion Specialists
what makes our care unique

Our Story
Why This Practice Exists
Spine Motion Specialists was created because something in spine care needed to change.
For decades, spinal fusion became the default solution for many back and neck problems. While fusion can help in certain cases, over time we learned more about its long-term impact on movement, biomechanics, and function. Too many patients were left stiff, limited, and uncertain about their future mobility.
Dr. Scott Hodges saw this firsthand throughout his career. After more than 35 years treating spine conditions, he recognized a pattern. Patients were getting relief, but often at the cost of motion and confidence in their bodies.
That realization became the foundation of this practice.
Spine Motion Specialists exists to offer patients another path forward, one focused on preserving movement, restoring function, and protecting quality of life.

Our Philosophy of Care
We believe the spine was designed to move.
Bending, Twisting, Lifting, And Living Fully Depend On Healthy Motion.
When motion is removed, the body adapts. Over time, this can place added stress on surrounding joints and segments. That is why we prioritize motion-preserving solutions whenever possible.

Our Philosophy Is Simple
Every recommendation is guided by biomechanics, research, and a deep respect for how the body was designed to work.
Treat the source of pain
Protect natural movement
Support long-term function
Avoid unnecessary fusion
